Managing 8 entities in Microsoft Dynamics GP meant a cumbersome workload for Health Enterprises, requiring labor-intensive transactions and manual reconciliations that resulted in time-consuming errors.
Founded in 1983, Health Enterprises provides programs and services designed to support community-based healthcare. A non-profit based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they are one of the leading companies in supply chain and CRNA services. They’re also a nationwide leader in 340B auditing and referral capture services. By offering a wide range of services across the healthcare industry, they help members and clients provide high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to the communities they serve.
Health Enterprises managed eight separate entities within Microsoft Dynamics GP, resulting in a cumbersome workload that required manually adjusting and reconciling intercompany transactions. Not only were they encountering numerous errors in their system, but correcting mistakes was time-consuming. The team was already planning to transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Business Central) and needed an integrated solution to help manage the eight entities by streamlining intercompany transactions.
Due to the sheer amount of manual work that needed to be completed, members of the team were performing various roles. Senior team members were left trying to juggle their workload while balancing intercompany entries and sorting out payroll across all eight entities.
Even routine intercompany transactions took up a tremendous amount of time. All eight entities were managed using one central bank account. It was not uncommon for a deposit entry from one entity to reach 160 lines.
Access to information was slow. Something as straightforward as pulling the intercompany balance between two entities was a slow process, requiring the team to double-check balances and correct errors. Often, this was not fast enough for the leadership team and slowed down strategic decision-making
With transactions creating a cumbersome manual workload, the system was full of errors. Finding and correcting these errors added an extra layer of complexity to the average work time and was labour-intensive.
As they transitioned to the new ERP, Health Enterprises knew they needed an intercompany solution that integrated fully with D365 Business Central.
Working with an implementation partner, Health Enterprises quickly identified Binary Stream’s Multi-Entity Management (MEM) as an innovative solution that fit their requirements.
Automation of many manual processes means that intercompany transactions and journal entries now occur quickly and effectively.
Before the implementation, the team struggled with the workload created by all the manual processes. Now, MEM takes care of these, freeing time to focus on budgeting and strategic planning.
In the past, a deposit entry could be 160 lines. They’ve been able to cut that back to anywhere between 10 and 20 lines, saving time and ensuring that those entries are more accurate and easier to manage.
Leadership can now access and act on information when they need it. The reports and balances pulled are reliable and timely, allowing them to make faster strategic decisions based on accurate data.
Prior to the implementation, the team struggled to balance out the companies at the end of each month. Now, MEM takes care of balancing, and all they need is to perform checks on the numbers.
Binary Stream provided comprehensive support and weekly meetings to help manage the implementation, ensuring everything went smoothly. Over three weeks, they prepared Health Enterprises for a seamless go-live.
